Definition: Strep Throat is an infection in the throat caused by the streptococcus A bacteria. It is most commonly characterized by a very sore throat and fever. Strep throat must be treated with antibiotics.
Also Known As: Group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus
Examples:
Jacob was not at school this week because he has strep throat.
