Many women get sick more often when they are pregnant. During my two pregnancies, I felt like I had a never ending cold - not to mention the nausea and aches from the pregnancy itself! Did you get the flu or a cold during your pregnancy?

Share your story - what kinds of symptoms did you have and how did you feel? How did you deal with the symptoms without taking medications since so many are off limits when you are pregnant? Share Your Story

Cold

I am 36 weeks pregnant and I have a very bad cold. I have a two year old and I watch my two year old cousin and they have balls of energy. I can't take them outside because I can't run after them. I have allergies that also makes it even worst with the runny & itchy eyes. Hope it goes away soon

Sick again?????

It is nice to know I am not alone. Still, how hard is it to work and be pregnant and sick all the time! I just got over the nausea and developed a terrible cold that has lasted 2 weeks now. I felt better for a few days and now I am back to feeling sick. I feel like I wish I could be quarantined instead of working with kids all day who pick their noses and then give me hugs. The hugs are nice... Time to inform the kids.... no holding my hand unless they have washed their hands.

Remember, we all get colds once in awhile, and we all know that there is no cure in modern Western Medicine for the common cold. (In my experience, colds are much better treated and respond better to Natural treatments). I caught a cold when i was 19 weeks pregnant and what worked for me was 50ml of warm water mixed with one table spoon of honey and one table spoon of lemon about three times a day before you eat anything. Hope it had helped. >>BEFORE TAKING THIS PLEASE BE SURE TO ASK YOUR DOCTOR

Flu?

Even though I got the flu shot at 12 weeks, I've come down with a nasty flu virus at 34 weeks. Chills/sweats, aches, fever, malaise, stuffy/runny nose, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in neck, mind-bending fatigue - can't sleep!, coughing, phlegm in chest. This is my 4th illness since December ugh!!! I'm afraid I'm going to be sick when I go into labor! There is no way I could do the work necessary to get my girl here if I were this sick! Using tylenol rapid release gel caps, guaifenesin, honey/lemon hot water, steam, vicks vaporub, and occasionally a little benadryl - doesn't do much but make me stoned in an unpleasant way! All meds approved by my OB at 34 weeks. Still taking my ambien but it is impossible to sleep these days and even more so while so sick :( My sympathies to Erin R....

im sooo sick :/

I have had the nastiest deep phelgm producing cough, runny nose, stopped up ears so bad I can barely hear and my Dr says nothing but tylenol. I'm 4 1/2 wks pregnant and very high risk. Due to 3 miscarriages and I'm only 24.

Lucky Duck

I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and nevertheless I am extremley congested with a really bad sore throat, it's now to the point to where I can't breathe out of my nose or mouth real good. This is the forst time I've been sick one time throughout my whole pregnancy adn I could have her at anytime...This scares me to death the it will cause complications!!

Not Again!

I'm 7 weeks along and have been sick on and off for 3 weeks. I thought it was seasonal allergies, but not so sure mow. I've had a really bad sore throat, it hurts to swallow. I have to sneeze so much, I try to stay close to the bathroom, because I tinkle a little some times. My head is stuffy, and the congestion is horrid, it even coats my throat when I sleep. Sleeping isn't good, with the cold and the call to the throne. My head hurts, my eyes water, and my ears hurt, and some times itch. It's not like my allergies, my head isn't stuffy, my chest is. I have had a low grade fever on and off. I just hope it doesn't continue like this through out the whole pregnancy.
