How Often Should You Take Medication for Your Fever?

Acetaminophen

  • Adults - every 4 hours as needed
  • Children - every 4 hours as needed

Ibuprofen
  • Adults - every 4 to 6 hours as needed
  • Children - every 6 to 8 hours as needed

Aspirin
  • Adults - every 4 hours as needed
  • Children - should not be given to children unless instructed to do so by the child's doctor
