Guide Review - Healthy Hands Musical Hand Wash Timers
As a mom and a nurse, I am pretty obsessive about hand washing. However, my five year old and I don't exactly see eye to eye when it comes to how often and how well hands need to be washed. He doesn't completely understand how germs can make us sick and he'd much rather skip this rather important step. We have taught him that he needs to sing the "Happy Birthday" song twice which worked for a while, but he soon learned that he could speed through the song and finish sooner.
When I heard about the Healthy Hands Musical Hand Wash Timers, I thought I should give it a try to see how well it would work. This product is designed to fit on the top of most standard liquid soap dispensers and it plays a song and flashes lights for 20-25 seconds, which is the perfect amount of time to wash your hands effectively. They are available in two different Disney designs - Ariel and Lightning McQueen - so there are options for both girls and boys.
The girl's version is purple, has a picture of Ariel and Flounder on the top and plays a part of one of the most recognizable songs from "The Little Mermaid" - "Under the Sea".
The version for boys is white, has a picture of Lightning McQueen on it and plays a part of the song "Real Gone" from the Disney movie "Cars".
In addition to playing music, both timers have flashing red lights. In my opinion, the lights probably aren't necessary because they aren't very bright and kids (or at least mine) don't really pay attention to them.
They slip over the top of a liquid soap dispenser easily and require very little effort to start the music and lights when you are washing. My only critique would be that they are a little loose on my soap dispensers, but they haven't fallen off, so it's really not a problem.
