Although it is still early September, the flu is already widespread in 11 states in the US. Most cases are no longer being tested, but the ones that are seem to be the pandemic H1N1 influenza A for the most part. Luckily, most people who get it recover without any problems or complications.
However, there are a few groups of people that are at higher risk to develop complications than others. And these are not all the same people that are most susceptible to the seasonal flu. If you are included in one of these groups, you may want to speak with your health care provider about your treatment options if you are exposed to the flu or if it widespread in your community.
