Hopefully, many people will head to the polls today and cast their votes for their favorite politicians (or maybe the least offensive). Of course, this also means many people will bring their germs to the polling stations as well. While you may not be touching all the people around you, chances are you could be picking up their germs. Some viruses can live on inanimate objects for up to three days! That includes the pen, computer screen or polling booth you shared with the thousands of other people who voted today. If you are sick, make sure you are washing your hands frequently and try not to cough on the publicly shared objects. Carry some hand sanitizer with you and use it after you leave the polling station so you kill any germs you may have picked up before you unconsciously touch your eyes or mouth. This may seem a little overboard, but just think of all the germs that could be living in that one little space. Just the thought makes my skin crawl! So, make sure you get out there and vote, without getting sick.
