Healthy Monday Message
A new campaign has been started by Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health called Healthy Monday. The objective is to focus the public's attention on their own health with the target day being every Monday. Office groups can join the program and send out reminders about how to live a healthy life on Mondays. Religious groups can do the same. A special program was designed for campuses to focus college students' attention on their health. The goal is to decrease the number of deaths in America caused by preventable diseases such as heart disease, smoking related illnesses and alcoholism. The best way to treat these problems, is to prevent them from happening in the first place. Although the flu and cold are not chronic diseases, living a healthy lifestyle and focusing on prevention is the best way to avoid them as well. Not only will you live a longer life, it will be a healthier one. Be sure to check out the other guides who have joined this campaign.

I will be focusing on this initiative more in the weeks to come. I feel it is very important to focus on our health, before we get sick, so we can all live longer and healthier lives. I hope that you will make it a priority in your life too.
